Welcome to Tea Time Tuesday!

Hello my lovely tea friends and welcome to my 35th Tea Time Tuesday!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. We did, what with all the beautiful weather we had and we even got out for a walk along the beach yesterday. Today was not quite so nice as the skies were overcast and it's a bit cooler. In any case, I'm glad you're here! Please come in and have a seat.

It's a good day to have a nice hot cup of tea.

Do you ever get a hankering for cinnamon toast? Well, I did and so I cut a thick slice of home made whole wheat bread we got from the bakery and popped it into the toaster. Mixed up some brown sugar and cinnamon and then spread it on the toast. Mmm, good!

I got my little pink tea-for-one which was a gift from my hubby a while back and served my favourite Green Chai tea from it.

Now, I'm going to tell you a funny story. Have you ever found something totally unexpected in your home? Well, I did! My hubby and I were house cleaning and throwing out a bunch of boxes which I had stored up in the closet in the office.

He still teases me about my 'box collection' because well, I won't tell you how many boxes we threw out. He told me I had enough to fill a warehouse! It was an unbelievable amount anyway! Some might have reason to believe I'm a hoarder! He he! But you see, one never knows when one will need a box, right?
Anyway, as we were getting the boxes down from the top shelf, Hubby found one that was a little too heavy for an empty box, so he investigated and you'll never guess what he found!

Back in May of this year, I had shared a new tea-for-one pot on a Pink Saturday post. I had shared all the pictures of this pretty little teapot and received some very nice comments about it. There are no markings on it but it is made of porcelain and trimmed with gold. I love the pinkness of it!
Well, when he opened up the box which the teapot came in, we got a big surprise! He discovered the matching saucer which accompanies the teapot! Can you believe that? Be still my heart! Thank goodness he found it when he did otherwise I might never have known there was a saucer included in the set!
My advice, be extra careful ladies when you're throwing out your boxes!

" A good laugh is sunshine in a house." ~ Thackeray

Here is the whole set. Isn't it a cute thing with its chintziness and butterflies? He had gotten it at Hallmark back in the Spring just because he knew I would like it. I keep telling ya, he's a keeper!

Now that I've made my confession, let's have some Cinnamon toast and tea, shall we? I always take my tea black. How do you like yours?
Next I would like to share with you a lovely Giveaway I won from Amy @ Vintage Porcelain Art ~ http://vintageporcelainart.blogspot.com/ Amy is one of my regular tea party participants and she had a Giveaway a couple of months ago which I was fortunate to win. I had shared about this teacup over the weekend on Pink Saturday but I wanted to show more photos of it for those of you who may not have seen it.

This lovely green teacup is sprinkled with pretty little pink roses and trimmed with gold. The teacup is hand-painted by Amy and I am thrilled to have it! I didn't have a green teacup, believe it or not, so I am really happy to add this to my collection. Isn't she purty?Amy has signed the bottom of the set with her own signature.A plate of my favourite tea biscuits, Petit E'colier, accompany the cup of tea. My Uncle Doug who hails from jolly old England introduced me to these wonderful chocolate covered tea biscuits. Not only are they delicious but they're pretty as well. They are presented on my favourite Rose Chintz square dessert plate which is produced by Johnson Bros. of England. The greens and pinks match the teacup very well. "Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things." ~ Chaim Potok

Perhaps you would prefer a fruit cup. Strawberries, grapes, and bananas; yum!

I have been painting pumpkins as of late and thought the teacup would look cute snuggled up to some sparkly little pumpkins. Just a little ambiance for your pleasure.

"We are shaped and fashioned by what we love." ~ Goethe

Last week I asked you what made you happy and we all seemed to like many of the same things. There is nothing more important than family, other than your relationship with God, and we spend time and energy creating loving relationships with our loved ones.

My hubby and I went together for four years before we got married and we've been married for 38 years! We are the best of friends and we love being together. I guess you could say we know each other pretty well by now!

Anne of Green Gables once told Gilbert when he was trying to win her hand that they would end up being like two old crows!

Well, I prefer to think of Hubby and me as being more like two song birds! We make beautiful music together and I like to think that we are creating a wonderful symphony for our family.

Fortunately for Anne and Gilbert, their story also had a happy ending.

" Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." ~ 1 Corinthians 13: 7-8

  7. I forgot how much I loved those cookies (biscuits). :-)

When my daughter and her hubby lived in the same town, I would keep a box of the cookies with dark chocolate and another with the milk chocolate (he preferred the dark chocolate).

I need to buy a couple of boxes to keep for my next unplanned tea party.

Ohhh...what a beautiful tea, my friend! I just adore your little pink butterfly chintz...tea for one! Ohhh, and I'm so glad that your honey found that pretty matching saucer! Okay, I must admit...I completely understand about the box thing! Hehe! Just last month, we did the same thing at our house. You wouldn't believe all the boxes we through out! And...I still saved a bunch...the best ones!

Girlfriend, I love cinnamon toast and often have it for breakfast! Although I must admit...yours looked sooo much better! I guess I need to start buying bakery bread! hehe! I also really enjoyed your new teacup and saucer that Amy gifted you with! It's sooo pretty! I'm so happy for you, sweet lady! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely tea with us today...this have been such a treat!!!

  12. Hello Sandi
I enjoyed your post this week very much. I knew there had to be others that kept boxes too! Yes, I have a stack of them in the basement in all shapes and sizes. Most stores don't supply a box any more for gifts so you have to keep a supply of them, right?
How lucky that you found the saucer for your tea for one set and it looks lovely all together, especially because there are butterflies on it. :-)
I haven't had cinnamon toast for some time and yours looks yummy. I had no treats to share this week - I ate popcorn with my tea.
    Have a great week.

  13. Hello there! LOVE them all! I am not sure if I could choose - just love the quote - made me wonder how it would apply to me :)
Just love the Anne of Green Gable's quote - one of my utmost favorites!
I am very partial to green, but truly love the butterflies in the tea for one set.
    God Bless,
    Kathy

  17. Hi, Dear Friend,
I'd love to be a part of your Tea Time Tuesday! I had an idea and actually have a post!

Your treats from England look yummy and the sparkly pumpkins actually look good to me because they aren't orange!! I think I'll have to paint some of mine like that.

Thanks for being our hostess! ♥♫

  18. Dear, sweet, Sandi, I always love having tea with you. The welcome is always so warm and gracious.

I love cinnamon toast too, and a few weeks ago, my husband really wanted something sweet fairly late at night. We didn't have any cookies or anything, so I suggested I make him some cinnamon toast. It really hit the spot.

I LOVE your tea for one set. It is totally gorgeous. What a lovely gift from your dear husband. I'm so glad you discovered the saucer now, and that the box didn't sit around for five years or so before you opened it.

Oh, you should see my garage....we keep boxes too....way too many of them. But, like you said, you just never know when you need a box to mail something in, right?

Finally, your teacup from Amy is so beautiful. She really does incredible painting.

    Have a super day.

    Love,
    Patti

PS My post is up, so you can link me up.

  19. Oh I'm so glad he found that saucer!!! What a treat! I just worry to death about missing something in a box, so I make the biggest mess (if there are those popcorn things especially!!) just so I don't miss something!
I'd love to join you this week!!

  24. What a nice post. Love your new teapots very pretty. It is always fun when someone tells a story and you learn more about them. After viewing "The Young Victoria" my husband and I both laughed and thought we were just like the way they portrayed those two. We also totally dote on our children like I have read Victoria and Albert did. Thanks for hosting and have a great week. Sherry

You must have been so glad you didn't just throw that box out without ever discovering the matching saucer!

Your tea posts are always so lovely ... and those happen to be my favourite cookies too! Only I'm a little afraid to buy them too often because I find them quite addictive!! :)

  34. Hi Sandi,

I try to imagine you in Canada and your Canadian shore. The only place I know in Canada is Vancouver, which I visited several times many moons ago
Thank you for stopping by at my blog and sniffing at just a tiny little bit of Dutch antqiue porcelain.
The pretty teaset of which you found the saucer would not at all have been displaced between the floral and butterfly patterns of Loosdrecht porcelain.
I loved reading your post and seeing the tea toast. We have cookies here that we call 'thee beschuit'. They are factory produced toast cut in long strips, covered with sugar and cinnamon. You dip them in the tea and then you drawl ..... ;-))
Is it not amazing what a house keeps producing in time? I think we all are collectors at certain times.
Nice to meet you! And maybe you could add me to your list?
I will read more of your blog the coming days.
    Have a wonderful day!
